The 45-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his ex-wife several times in Samabula earlier this month appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.

He has been remanded in custody and the matter will be called again on the 23rd of this month in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama says the man is a clear threat to the community.

The man was arrested when he had gone to the hospital to get medical attention.

He has been charged with one count each of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Criminal Intimidation.

The woman was discharged from the hospital yesterday.

The alleged incident happened opposite a bakery in Samabula at the junction of Fulaga Street and Namuka Street at around 8 o’clock on the 2nd of this month.

Witnesses say they heard screams and when they attended to the victim, they saw that she had been stabbed twice in the chest and was heavily covered in blood.

A few bystanders tried to stop the man however they were unsuccessful.
