Former All Black Ben Smith's French top 14 debut ended in disaster with the All Blacks star sent off for an ugly fend.

The 84 capped All Black was shown a red card by international referee Alexandre Ruiz in the 51st minute.
Ruiz sent Smith off for a fend where he led with his elbow and the impact left Stade hooker Lucas Da Silva flat on his back.
Smith is automatically banned from the next match against top-of-the-table Bordeaux and will now wait to see if there is a longer suspension from the championship judiciary.
