A 26-year-old man will appear in the Rakiraki Magistrates Court today after allegedly stealing assorted items worth $5,000 from a teacher’s quarters in Rakiraki.

He is charged with one count each of theft and burglary.

Police say the owner and his family were away when the man broke into the house.

According to Police, the information provided by members of the community resulted in the man's arrest.

The man led police to where he allegedly hid the stolen items.
