Scotland back-rower Ryan Wilson is hopeful Flying Fijians lock Leone Nakarawa will return to the Glasgow Warriors.
Nakarawa has talks about a move to the Glasgow Warriors after he was sacked by Racing 92 following his late return from the Rugby World Cup.
Both Wilson and Nakarawa were stand-out performers in the Warriors’ Pro12 title triumph in 2015, and the Scotland forward said he’d love nothing better than to have Nakarawa on board for the second half of the season.
He says it would mean everything to the club to have a player like Nakarawa back.
Wilson says Nakarawa is such an amazing player and a good man as well.
Glasgow Warriors coach Dave Rennie has said that reports that Nakarawa was on his way back to the club are not true but has admitted they were talking to Nakarawa.
Rennie told The Scotsman – Scotland’s national newspaper that he had a conversation with Nakarawa but there is nothing to confirm yet.
Nakarawa signed his first professional contract when joining the Glasgow Warriors in 2013 and helped the club win the Pro 12 title in 2015. He left in 2016 to join Racing 92 in France.
Glasgow Warriors compete in the Guinness PRO14 and Heineken Champions Cup and play their matches at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow.
The Guinness PRO14 includes teams from Wales, Ireland, Italy, South Africa and Scotland, while the Heineken Champions Cup is Europe’s premier rugby competition and features the best sides from the Guinness PRO14, Gallagher Premiership and Top14.
