A bench warrant has been issued for Jale Baba however Suva Magistrate Joseph Daurewa has suspended it till the next mention date which is on the 10th of next month.

This means that Baba has to attend court on the next mention date otherwise the bench warrant will come into effect and he will be arrested.

Baba wasn't present in court today and FICAC lawyer Arieta Vaganalau while requesting for a bench warrant to be issued asked the court to be mindful that Baba is physically unable to come to court due to his health.

Baba had earlier pleaded guilty to publishing falsified Voter Lists and other false information related to a list on Facebook in 2018, which he knew was untrue.

He had denied the charge in August last year but had later indicated to the court through his counsel that he wanted to change his plea.
