Minister for Health Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete has made a promise to the nation that they will deal with Coronavirus even better than how they handled the measles outbreak.
Dr. Waqainabete says people saw the strength of character of the Health Ministry during the measles outbreak and adds that they have the resources to contain the Coronavirus.

Dr. Waqainabete says that there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and the measures they are putting in place are just precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, Head of Health Protection Dr. Aalisha Sahukhan says they currently have a family of four who arrived in Nadi last Thursday from Wuhan Province in China in quarantine.

Dr. Sahukhan says a 36-year old woman from the family contacted their Health Office and said that she had a headache and fever.
She says the woman has since been assessed and followed up on a day to day basis by the health team and it has been found that she no longer has fevers but still has a minor headache.
Dr. Sahukhan says the rest of the family are well and as a precautionary measure they are quarantined until they get the results of some tests.
She says that they have border controls in place but they know that there may be limitations to it since it takes about 14 days for a person to develop symptoms after being exposed to Coronavirus.
Dr. Sahukhan says there are also reports that some people do not even develop symptoms for this disease.
She says this is the reason they do not completely rely on border screenings and is urging people to take precautionary measures which includes maintaining proper hygiene such as using a tissue when coughing and frequent hand washing.
