A total of 270 trees were planted at the launching of the Youth Climate Action Initiative in Nadi.

The initiative is in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports along with the Ministry of Forests and aims to achieve the Fijian Government’s target of 30 Million Trees in 15 years initiative announced by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the United Nation’s Climate Summit in New York.

Officiating at the event, Minister for Employment, Productivity, Industrial Relations, Youth and Sports  Parveen Bala highlighted that Fiji is taking the lead on climate change and every Fijian youth can also make a difference.

He says the initiative is part of Government’s renewed effort to continue the fight against climate change and to protect Fiji’s environment and rich biodiversity.

The launch was attended by more than 200 youths and the Minister for Forestry Osea Naiqamu.
