A 43-year-old man has been jailed for 8 years and 10 months for raping and sexually assaulting a fellow employee in March last year.
The man was a supervisor in a security company and on the day of the incident, the woman who is also a security guard was on night shift at a building in Suva.
The man took advantage of the situation and raped the woman when he visited the building for a routine check at around 2 o’clock in the morning.
The woman reported the matter to Police at the first available opportunity.
In his sentence, Justice Aruna Aluthge said the woman was new to her job and to that building and the man exploited her vulnerability to satisfy his lustful demands.
A non-parole period of 6 years has been set.
