The Water Authority of Fiji says it is working around the clock to normalise water supply to residents in the elevated parts of Nasinu and certain areas in Suva.

It says ground teams identified the cause of the leakage last night which was caused by a defective and worn out ferrule-cock and rubber ring, after which repairs were conducted overnight into this morning which included metal and welding works.

The Authority says repairs have been made to the bulk main, which feeds treated water from the Waila Water Treatment Plant to the Wainibuku main distribution reservoir.

WAF is now in the process of re-charging the trunk main and once this is completed, water supply is expected to be normalized.

The Authority says a total of 15 water carting trucks have been deployed to service the affected areas.

The Water Authority of Fiji had earlier said that water supply is expected to normalise by 6 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Affected areas include Koronivia, Davuilevu, Wainibuku Road, Naulu, Nakasi, Makoi, Nepani, Narere, Navosai, Valelevu, Nadawa, Ratu Dovi Road, Nadera, Caubati, Kinoya, Tacirua, Dokanaisuva, Colo-i-Suva, Laucala Beach, Raiwaqa, Raiwai, Nasese, Flagstaff, Victoria Parade and Knolly Street.

Most of these areas have not received any water since last night.
