Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar has stressed that Heads of Schools should look at new strategies in order to set a new benchmark for exam pass rates in their schools.
While speaking to the Bua and Macuata Heads of Schools, Akbar says the pass rate of Year 6 exam was 56% last year, a decrease from the 64% pass rate achieved in 2018.
She says for Year 8, the pass rate last year was 69%, an increase of 10% from 2018.
She further says for Year 12, the pass rate last year was just 1% higher than that of the pass rate in 2018 which was 72%.
She adds that for Year 10 and Year 13, the pass rate decreased last year, with Year 10 pass rate sitting at 54% in 2018 and 53% in 2019 while Year 13 was at 84% in 2018 and 79% last year.
