Both lanes on the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge are now open after only one lane was open this morning as it was undergoing immediate repair works.
Thousands of people were stuck in traffic for hours this morning.
We have received calls from several people who say they were stuck in traffic for several hours.
The Fiji Roads Authority had said that the approach to the bridge had sunk because of heavy rain last night and a heavy load of vehicles travelling along the road.
They say the bridge needed to be uplifted and immediate works were needed to be done so that it would not damage vehicles.
They also say the damage became visible late last night and to avoid further deterioration, the repair work required reinforcement so that another heavy rain does not damage the road again.
