The Lelean Memorial School U17 team edged Suva Grammar School 27-25 in a thriller in their Vodafone Super Deans semi final match this afternoon

Lelean played it smart, utilizing their kicker who converted three penalties to lead 9-0.

Grammar responded with three quick tries to lead 15-9 at half-time.

Lelean came back firing in the second half, collecting another 15 points to put them ahead.

Grammar scored another try to close the gap to 24-20, but Lelean converted another penalty to extend their lead to 27-20.

The Suva Grammar side continued to put pressure on Lelean’s defence and managed to get another try in the final minutes of the game, but they could not convert that try, giving the Davuilevu side the win.

Lelean will face the winner of the second semi final match between RKS and Ba Pro Free Bird Institute that will be held at Buckhurst Ground.

Looking at other semi final results, QVS defeated Lelean Memorial School 17-13, and Suva Grammar beat Marist Brothers High School 10-8 in the U14 grade, MGM High School edged QVS 15-14, and Suva Grammar School defeated RKS 19-15 in the U15 grade, Gospel High School beat Marist Brothers High School 14-12 and Suva Grammar thumped RKS 30-5 in the U16 grade.

In the U18 Deans semi-final at the HFC Bank Stadium, Nasinu Secondary will take on Natabua High School at 3.30pm, and Suva Grammar School will take on Ratu Kadavulevu School at 5pm.
