As the National Federation Party raises serious concerns about Australian citizen, Alexandra Forwood spreading malicious lies with some others to drive a wedge between Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka and NFP Leader, Professor Biman Prasad, the Prime Minister has stressed that he trusts Professor Prasad.
While responding to fijivillage News, Rabuka says he does not know Forwood as well as he knows Professor Prasad.
In a statement, NFP General Secretary, Kamal Iyer says in an act of conspiracy that is not only designed to sow seeds of contempt but also an attempted plot to derail the coalition government, Prime Minister Rabuka was emailed by Forwood yesterday, purporting to forewarn him that Professor Biman Prasad was blaming the Prime Minister for plotting his removal from Cabinet.
Iyer says the NFP is thankful to the Prime Minister who, as a matter of courtesy, forwarded the email to Professor Prasad and the party.
He says this email is clearly part of a greater conspiracy involving certain individuals both in Fiji and abroad, raising questions about FICAC as well after Forwood was also sharing information about Professor Prasad charged days before he was served the papers.
The NFP General Secretary says Forwood’s email falsely claims that Professor Prasad told former NFP President, Tupou Draunidalo he was forced to resign by the PM and he would “go after the PM using the remaining NFP ministers”.
Iyer stresses neither Professor Prasad nor the NFP headquarters has been in contact with Draunidalo, either via mobile, landline or email, since March 2017.
He says Forwood’s email was malicious, full of lies and filth.
Forwood had lodged a complaint in early 2024 with the Fijian Elections Office against Professor Prasad, which was then referred to FICAC by the then Acting and now Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa.
Professor Prasad was cleared and later charged by FICAC.
In response, Forwood has posted that the email sent was confidential and private marked only to the Prime Minister.
She says it is outside her control that the Prime Minister forwarded it to Professor Biman Prasad for reason best known to him.
Forwood says FICAC as an institution does not listen to anyone unless under law, and she cannot comment further on the matter regarding Professor Prasad as it is subjudice.
Rabuka also stresses to fijivillage News that as a matter of courtesy, he forwarded Forwood’s email to Professor Prasad to give him his side of the story.
