The Local Government Association has stressed that all councils around the country are submitting their monthly statements to the Local government ministry on the councils operations.
Association president, Rajeshwar Kumar said it’s a concern that the interim minister is not aware that the councils are submitting their reports.
In a statement yesterday Interim Local Government Minister, Jone Navakamocea said he wants a stronger tie between local municipalities and government to eradicate corruption in councils.
Navakamocea added if councils submit quarterly or monthly statements to the ministry then they will have the opportunity to keep track of how they are operating and thus it will promote transparent systems, procedures and processes upon which councils govern themselves.
