While the Fiji School of Medicine maintains that migration is an international issue of great concern, they are also of the view that it is the push factors that need to be tended to urgently, rather than the pull factor of higher salaries overseas.
FSM Dean, Professor David Brewster said Fiji in its totality as well as the Ministry of Health in particular, needs to address this issue rather than a medical school.
Brewster had earlier expressed surprise at the Interim Health Minister, Dr Jona Senilagakali' statement as they have had no discussions with the Interim Minister.
Senilagakali had raised concern that 4 million in tax dollars were poured into the FSM yearly and yet when the students graduate, they migrate overseas.
