More than three thousand dollars was raised today at the inaugural walk to remember the life of cancer sufferer Tae Kami and the victims of the MV Princess Ashika that sank in Tonga a week ago.
Organising Committee Member, Matt Wilson said he met Tae Kami on a number of occasions and during her short life she had a very large influence in Tonga and captured the heart of the Tongan people.
Wilson adds she left behind a legacy which her parents want to build on for the sake of other children suffering from cancer and today's funds will go towards that goal.
USP Student, Asolua Fiu said joining the walk was her way of contributing and remembering Tae Kami and the Ashika victims.
Tae Kami received a medal of bravery from the King of Tonga for her bravery and what she stood for.
