Good news for those students who are facing difficulties in pursuing further education as Government has re-introduced the Student Loan Scheme.
Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said that after meeting with the Prime Minister yesterday, Government decided to re-introduce the scheme even though there was no provision for the scheme in the 2010 National Budget.
Chand adds that a total of one million dollars has been set aside to assist those students who have not qualified for any other Government Scholarships.
Under the Student Loan Scheme, those students who have left school and want to enroll in a tertiary institute and whose parents total income is less than $15,000, can apply for the Scheme.
Chand adds that the loan will be granted on certain conditions however parents should take advantage of the loan as it is interest free.
The Scheme closing date is tomorrow however Chand PSC may look at extending the closing date.
