The three assessors in the trial in relation to former Nasinu Town Clerk Jaswant Kumar today deliberated and delivered a verdict of guilty on one count of abuse of office.
The three assessors while delivering their verdict revealed that they found the accused Jaswant Kumar had abused his office for personal gains.
Kumar was charged by FICAC for one count of abuse of office and an alternative count of embezzlement, for allegedly writing a cheque of $2,334.42 and cashing the cheque on the same day on 26th May 2006.
Judge Justice Daniel Goundar during his summing up thanked the assessors for their contribution to the case saying that they had heard from the two counsels and the assessor’s opinions carried great weight.
A ruling is expected to be made tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.
