A 47 year old charged with 21 counts of burglary, 18 counts of theft, three counts of larceny and one count of house breaking, entering and larceny has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment by the Lautoka High Court.
The court heard that between March 2009 to March this year, Vikatore Tabeusi was involved in a number of burglaries in the Western Division and that he had 110 previous convictions, most of which were for burglary and three for escaping from lawful custody.
Judge Justice Paul Madigan said that Tabeusi’s record is shocking and it will not be a surprise if he is classified as an habitual offender.
Judge Madigan handed a concurrent sentence saying that if the sentences are made consecutive, Tabeusi would end up serving a term of 171 years.
Tabeusi will be serving a total of 8 years and will not be eligible for parole for 6 years.
