The South Sea Drifters have made a promising start in the 2011 Heineken Hottest 7s in Darwin this afternoon.
The Iliesa Tanivula coached side defeated the Darwin Dingoes 36-5 in their first game while Nadroga based Davetalevu also won their first game beating the Kombat Cougars 7-5.
The Drifters which boasts seasoned sevens players like skipper Emosi Vucago, Watisoni Votu, Nasoni Roko, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Seremaia Burotu, Sitiveni Waqa, Nemani Nagusa, Semesa Gonevou, Kelemedi Bola and Lepani Nabuliwaqa play Randwick in their next game at 7pm tonight.
Tanivula is using the Darwin sevens and the Uprising sevens to finalize his squad for the Wellington sevens next month and stresses that spots in the national side are still up for grabs.
Tanivula is expected to finalize his team after returning from Darwin on Monday.
Also featuring at the Darwin sevens are the Australian and Kenyan national sides that are using the tournament as a final build up to the Wellington sevens.
