Digicel Fiji 7s co-captain Dale Tonawai believes that only a win in the Hong Kong Sevens this weekend will prove that they are the best players selected.
Tonawai with Waqabaca Kotobalavu and Nikola Matawalu will not play in the Australia 7s as they are military personal who are facing travel sanctions.
Speaking to Fijivillage before they left for Hong Kong this morning, Tonawai said the sanction which is in place has given the three players another added challenge to do Fiji proud in Happy Valley.
The 30 year old who was part of the Fiji 7s team that lost the final in 2006 and 2007 added that the Hong Kong 7s tournament is always different from any other leg of the series with the atmosphere it provides and Fiji’s past records.
Tonawai with 33 year old Setefano Cakau are the oldest members of the team but he is confident they can combine well with the rest of the boys to deliver the results on Sunday night.
The Fiji 7s team will arrive in Hong Kong at 6pm and will play Malaysia in their opening pool game at 9.14pm this Friday.
