Water supply to parts of Nasinu and Suva were temporarily affected due to an alleged theft of electrical cables from Wainibuka's water pumping station over the weekend.
Water Authority spokesperson Michelle Tevita Singh said the thieves had cut the lengths of copper cables that connected the booster pumps and the electrical switchboards that control the power supply.
She said the incident has shutdown one of the two pumps and has resulted in the reduction of the water level at the Tovata reservoir which supplies water to smaller service reservoirs in the Nasinu areas and parts of Suva.
Police are currently investigating and those found guilty will be jailed or given a heavy fine.
Members of the public are requested to be vigilant and report to the police any suspicious activity near the authority's facilities.
