New Zealand Master Chef is down to final four but only after Fiji born and former Natabua High School student Charlene McGechan made an exit this week.

An early favourite in the competition, McGechan's elimination surprised not only the other contestants but also the judges.

Speaking to Fijivillage McGechan said that while she is grateful for the NZ Master Chef experience it however took away a lot from her family.

On exiting the show McGechan knelt to the floor in the Fijian traditional and clapped her hands, before saying “Vinaka Vakalevu”.
