Bau Chief Adi Samanunu Cakobau-Talakuli passed away on Monday after a short illness at her Nakelo residence.
Adi Samanunu was the eldest child of the late Vunivalu, Ratu Sir George Cakobau.
She was the Minister for Fijian Affairs in 1994 and 1995, and also served as Fiji's High Commissioner to Malaysia.
Adi Samanunu was appointed to the senate in 2006 and was then appointed Minister without portfolio. She was married to former British Army officer and current Tui Nakelo, Ratu Manasa Talakuli.
Preparations are currently underway for the funeral which will take place next Friday.
The reguregu will start from next Wednesday.
