The trial of a man charged with three counts of rape continued in the Suva High Court today.
The court was told that the man allegedly raped his seven year old niece in Nasinu on 19th September 2011.
Prosecution witness, Doctor Rakei Kaarvia of the CWM hospital gave evidence that according to the findings of the medical examination, the child was sexually abused.
Police Sergeant Sunita Devi told Justice Salesi Temo in her evidence that she took a detailed statement from the girl where the victim told her that her uncle allegedly sexually abused her while he was drunk.
She also said that when she yelled out to her mother, the accused ran away from the scene however he would come back when she is sleeping.
The case continues.
