The Fiji Police Force wants the general public to get information about any crime related incident directly from them.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ravi Narayan said sometimes people arrive at a crime scene first and start making up stories.
He added that Police want this to stop as they need to gather all the facts first and then release it to the media who can then inform the general public.
Meanwhile, the Police Media Image and Communication training workshop started today where one of the objectives is to prepare the Fiji Police Force on how to effectively engage the media in preparation for the general elections next year.
