The Lautoka soccer team managed to surpass the scare from Nadroga after the Stallions forced the match into a penalty shootout where Lautoka won 6-5 in the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants semifinal at Govind Park.
Lautoka was lucky to get the goal in the third minute of the match after Nadroga scored an own goal to give the Blues an early lead.
The Stallions came from behind to equalize in the 24th minute of the second half through John Rounds Junior to make it 1-1.
Nadroga came back strongly in the second half and applied tremendous pressure on the Lautoka goal mouth.
Meanwhile, Ba defeated Labasa 1-0 in a nail biting first semifinal.
The Ba strikers created havoc in the Labasa defense in the second half and a Avinesh Swamy free kick saw Tuimasi Manuca heading in the only goal of the match.
Labasa played a defensive structure with only one striker and Ba kept attacking the Labasa goalmouth but could not score more goals.
The final will kick off at 3pm today and you can catch the live commentary on our sister Station Radio Sargam.
The other matches will see Labasa take on Nadroga in the 3rd/4th playoff at 1pm and at 9am, the premier matches will kick off between Lami-Bua while at 11am, Nasinu will face Dreketi.
