30,000 people have been affected by the dry weather conditions in the Western Division.

Divisional Planning Officer, Sitiveni Tavaga says they have already distributed 300,000 litres of water to the Yasawas and another 140,000 litres will be delivered to the Mamanuca Group and Yanuya Island today.

Tavaga says they have carted 280,000 litres of water on the main land of the Western Division which includes the interior areas between Sigatoka to Tavua.

He says they have received calls from Raviravi and Navau in Ba for water supply.

Tavaga says their biggest challenge is to respond to the calls due to the large area to be covered however he assures people that all the calls will be attended to positively.

According to Tavaga, $200,000 has been allocated to cater for water carting and fuel costs.

Meanwhile the Water Authority of Fiji says they are not only carting water to paid customers but also to those in non‑metered areas.

The Authority has received requests by divisional offices and is responding accordingly.
