Former Fiji First parliamentarian, Sanjit Patel says he is resigning as a member of parliament because he now wants to put his entire focus on running his business.
Patel says he has felt that their company has been left out in certain areas because of his focus on politics.
He says it was a tough decision to make but all options have been weighed out and his decision was based on that.
Sanjit Patel was a member of the Public Accounts Committee, the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and the Chairman of the Emoluments committee.
He was also the Deputy Government Whip.
Meanwhile the Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem has confirmed that he has received the resignations of Fiji First parliamentarians, Jioji Konrote and Sanjit Patel.
Konrote resigned from the party last Friday while Patel resigned earlier this week.
Acting Commander, Commodore Viliame Naupoto has also resigned from the Fiji First after discussions with the Prime Minister as he wants to stay on at RFMF.
This means two Fiji First parliamentary seats are now vacant.
Matai Akauola and Mohammed Dean are next in line on the Fiji First list to take up the two seats.
The Electoral Commission will confirm the appointments soon.
