Over 150 athletes have been confirmed for the 2016 FIBA Under 18 Oceania Basketball Championships which will be played in the men’s and women’s category at the Vodafone Arena.
Basketball Fiji Chief Operations Officer Laisiasa Puamau says the top eight countries in the Oceania region will be competing to qualify for a place in the Under 19 World Championships in Egypt and Italy next year.
Puamau says the winners of the men’s and women’s competition will qualify for the World Championships.
Australia, Fiji, Guam, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tahiti will be competing in the Oceania meet.
The 2016 FIBA Under 18 Basketball Championships will begin on the 4th of December at the Vodafone Arena.
