Former Fiji 7s rep and Olympic gold medalist Viliame Mata scored a try for his Edinburgh side however it was not enough as they lost to Stade Francais 26-20 in the European Challenge Cup.
Mata came off the bench in the second half.
Edinburgh suffered their first defeat in European Challenge Cup Pool 5 despite a spirited second‑half fight-back.
Meanwhile, Leone Nakarawa’s Racing 92 lost to Glasgow Warriors 23-7.
Racing 92 also has the services of former All Black greats Dan Carter and Joe Rokocoko.
