For the very first time, future Doctors of the Pacific Islands will be part of an 8‑day multifaceted training camp.

The Pacific Medical Students Association that comprises of students from 27 Universities will be exposed to unfamiliar healthcare scenarios and establish essential skills in Medicine.

Association President Kishan Chand says that the camp is targeted to unite students from around the Pacific with a strong motive of reinforcing cultural competency and diversity in Workforce and Education.

He adds that the inaugural event is led by students of Umanand Prasad School of Medicine, Fiji National University along with Monash University and Madeleine Marsland.

The Pacific Medical Students Association, Southern Hemisphere medical Camp will run from the 15th to the 23rd of December at Malolo Islands.

Chand says that the Pacific Medical Students Association will also be conducting the largest ever NCD & Rheumatic Heart Disease  Screening at Prince Charles Park Nadi on 15th December and for the outer islands groups including the Mamanuca group, Yasawa and Lomaiviti from 18th‑ 22nd December, 2017.

He says that the health Screening Programme would be open to everyone and is organized through partnership with Ministry of Health, Heart international and DSM Medical Centre Nadi.

The Pacific Medical Students Association brings together Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students from Australia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Kiribati, PNG, Tonga, FSM, Tuvalu, Palau, Marshall Island, Nauru and Fiji.
