The trial of a 33-year-old taxi driver charged with three counts of rape and one count of abduction will start in the Suva High Court today.

It is alleged that Umendra Kumar had abducted a 14-year-old girl from Nasinu and took her to Nadi where he had raped her on the 11th and 12th of January 2014.

It is also alleged that he then took the girl to Rakiraki where he again raped her on the 13th of January, 2014.

The case will be heard before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.
