A 65-year-old man convicted of one count Sexual Assault will be sentenced on Monday by High Court Judge Justice Vinsent Perera.
The man was convicted of sexual assault of his 7-year-old granddaughter.
In the sentencing and mitigation hearing this afternoon, state lawyer Swastika Sharma submitted that the age gap between the two was 52 years.
She further stated that the accused took advantage of the victim's vulnerability and helplessness.
Defence counsel Filimoni Vosarogo submitted that the accused is married and has been in remand for five months.
