A 65-year-old man has been found guilty of one count of Sexual Assault by High Court Judge Justice Vinsent Perera.

Justice Perera acquitted the man of the first count of Sexual Assault and the third count which is Rape.  

He overturned the unanimous decision of the three assessors in the trial who had returned with a majority guilty opinion yesterday afternoon.

The man is alleged to have raped and sexually assaulted his 7‑year‑old granddaughter between 2012 and 2014 in Nasinu.
