Two Women Detective Constables from the Fiji Police Force have departed the country to be part of the 13 member United Nations and African Union Mission in Darfur contingent.

This will be the first tour for Detective Constable Ateshni Askika Ram and Police Constable Ilisabeta Iliana.

Both women say that it will difficult to stay away from their families but they are ready for the challenge.

The deployment of the two officers means that force has continuously met its quota for the number of officers deployed to UN Missions.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Luke Navela has reminded both women of the importance of preserving the image and reputation of the Fiji Police Force.

More than 70 officers are currently on deployment at various UN mission areas.
