“If you shout, don’t forget my name is Vadra.”

An 18-year-old woman who was allegedly raped in January, 2014 told the Suva High Court that the accused had said this to her while she was sitting in the front passenger seat.

The 33‑year‑old taxi driver is charged with one count of abduction and three counts of rape.

It is alleged that Umendra Kumar had abducted the 14‑year‑old girl from Nasinu and took her to Nadi, Lautoka and Rakiraki and raped her on three separate days.

The alleged incidents took place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of January 2014.

The victim who is 18 years old now told the court that she did not escape when the car stopped at Rewa Street as Kumar had shown her a knife and had told her that he will cut her if she shouts.
