The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption is concerned about the number of persons impersonating FICAC officers.

The Commission has received complaints about individuals calling members of the public claiming to be FICAC officers and demanding money or claiming to be debt collectors.

FICAC has put out a statement saying it would like to advise that it does not demand money from people or act as debt collectors for people.

FICAC would like to advise that anyone demanding cash or favors in kind under the pretense of being a FICAC officer is against the law and anyone found doing this should be reported against immediately.

Members of the public are reminded to demand proof of identification from FICAC officers, as every FICAC officer is required to carry authentic FICAC identification cards at all times.

The public should take note of the information on the ID cards and call their toll free line on 1322 to verify information if they suspect a person is an imposter.
