The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s has won their first pool match of the Las Vegas 7s after thrashing Russia 38-0.
The national side crossed over with six tries as they led 19-0 at halftime with tries from Josua Vakurinabili, Eroni Sau and Amenoni Nasilasila.
Captain Jerry Tuwai opened Fiji’s account in the second half with an individual brilliance.
Sau scored his second and his 20th try this season while Vatemo Ravouvou had the final say with a try in the last minute.
Nadroga flanker Vasikali Mudu produced a highlight of the match after giving a crunching tackle to a Russian player.
Fiji will now take on France in their second pool match at 3.07pm, they will then play Kenya in their final pool match at 8.36am tomorrow.
The Cup quarters start at 1.26pm tomorrow, the Cup semis will be held at 9.12am on Monday while the Cup final will kick off at 12.30pm Monday.
