Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that three people have confirmed to the Fiji Sun that they went to a meeting in which National Federation Party MP Parmod Chand allegedly made a number of comments saying that Muslims and South Indians are running the country.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that the three people also said that Chand had allegedly said that non-South Indians and non-Muslims will have to go into the water.

While responding to NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad’s call to provide proof that the NFP has been campaigning based on race and religion, Sayed-Khaiyum says this is the proof.

He adds that there were also allegations made that Fiji has borrowed money, which he had facilitated from Iraq and Iran and therefore one day they will take over the country.

He says it is factually incorrect that the South Indians and the Muslims are taking over Fiji.

Sayed-Khaiyum says Chand yelled out across the floor in parliament today and said to him that they had made up the claims about Chand making the comments, however, Sayed-Khaiyum says he has never met these three people.

Meanwhile, Professor Biman Prasad says he has asked the newspaper to provide conclusive and irrefutable proof that Parmod Chand had made those comments.
