A woman has expressed her concern over the state of the Nausori Children’s Park.

She has shared pictures with us where the structures of the wooden jungle gym at the park seem to be rotten, aged and unfit for children to play in.

The woman says the park is unsafe for children because there are a lot of holes in the structures adding that there is also a lot of missing wood in the sliding area.

She says a lot of parents cannot afford to take their children to the parks in Suva and she feels sad that her children have to use a park that in this state.

She also recalled one of her children having fallen through one of the holes a few years ago.

The park is located opposite the Nausori Police Station.

Nausori Town Council CEO, Aktar Ali says the park is 50 years old and they are currently working on plans to rebuild the park to much better standards this year.

Ali says the Council has plans to make the park to international standards.

He says scoping work has been done where they are looking into areas like landscaping, gardening and the type of playing equipment that will be suitable for children, adults and the elderly.

Ali says he understands that people are concerned about the park and he says they are working on it.

He added that there will be developments on Syria Park as well and the council is looking into ways to improve the standards of the park.
