Border Police Commanding Officer Pita Keni who is charged with corruption-related offences had his sentencing deferred by the Nadi Magistrates Court.
Keni was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for a count each of failure to render assistance and resisting or obstructing officers.
Magistrate Peni Dalituimua informed Keni that he needs to inform his lawyer to file the mitigating submissions as his lawyer was not present in court.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Mohammed Azhar had convicted Keni of one count of failure to render assistance and had found him not guilty of resisting or obstructing officers in December 2017.
Keni while being a public servant employed by the Fiji Police Force without reasonable excuse failed to render assistance to FICAC by refusing to provide information requested that was relevant to a bribery case against a former Acting Inspector of the Fiji Police Force Timoci Naulu.
The case has been adjourned to the 3rd of next month.
