Sumet Kumar Sharma has been sentenced to 1 year imprisonment by the Nausori Magistrates Court for offering a bribe of $10 to a Police Officer.
A bench warrant has been issued for Kumar who had offered a bribe to a police officer after being stopped for being under the influence of alcohol while driving on the 12th of August last year in Koronivia.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne stated that it is a common practice to see people who violate the traffic laws in the country trying to offer bribes to escape from punishment.
