Xabi Alonso who is a Former Liverpool and Real Madrid star may have to face a possible five‑year jail term after Spanish authorities have accused him of tax fraud.
Prosecutors have said that the 36-year-old owes nearly 2 million pounds in tax earnings.
Alonso has denied these allegations.
The midfielder, who joined Real Madrid in 2009, is the latest in a string of footballers to be pursued by the Spanish tax authorities.
