Thousands of Hindus will conclude Ram Naumi celebrations, one of the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar today.

The festival celebrates the birth of Lord Rama where Hindus worship, sing devotional songs and recite the Holy Ramayana.

Attorney‑General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum attended Ram Naumi celebrations held at Shree Ram Krishna Mandir in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

Sayed-Khaiyum says religious events such as these were a reminder to emulate the values portrayed by Lord Rama.

He said apart from celebrating the birth of Lord Rama, this was a time to reflect on the kind of life Lord Rama led as a son, a brother, a husband, a King and as an individual in the society.

He also attended Ram Naumi celebrations in Wainibokasi, Nausori.

While speaking at the celebrations, Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that this was a time of self‑reflection to see how well we have used the examples set by Lord Rama to lead better lives.
