Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team coach Gareth Baber says Semi Kunatani will only be playing at the Commonwealth Games and not at the Hong Kong and Singapore 7s.

While speaking in the Straight Talk talkback show on our sister station Viti FM Baber says it was part of their agreement with his club.

He says there is a possibility for Kunatani to play in Paris and London 7s and possibly the World Cup.

Baber says Kunatani was one of the players he had continued dialogue with and his coach was very positive about Kunatani playing in the Commonwealth Games.

Baber adds that Kunatani could play anywhere in the team and he will definitely add a lot of strength to the team.

He adds that Kunatani told him that when there is an opportunity to play for Fiji, he will be there.

The players that have been selected for the Commonwealth Games are Semi Kunatani, Jasa Veremalua, Josua Vakurinabili, Paula Dranisinukula, Kalione Nasoko, Jerry Tuwai, Vatemo Ravouvou, Amenoni Nasilasila, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Mesulame Kunavula, Eroni Sau and Alasio Naduva.

Samisoni Viriviri is the 13th player.

Semi Kunatani is the only overseas‑based player.

Baber is expected to name his team for the Hong Kong 7s this Thursday.
