The Fiji Sugar Corporation has announced the third cane payment of $13.45 per tonne for the 2017 season.

FSC says the payment has been processed and banking arrangements are in hand to facilitate payment to cane farmers by Wednesday.

They say the third cane payment for the 2017 season compares favorably to the $9.28 and $9.88 per tonne of cane paid for the 2016 and 2015 season, respectively.

FSC says the increase can be attributed to better management of sales cash flow by FSC and their success in accelerating sales cash receipts by 28th February 2018, being the record date for calculation of the third cane payment.

The fourth cane payment for the 2017 season will be payable by May this year.
