People in the Central, Eastern and Western Divisions should expect water supply disruptions as a result of the planned repairs and maintenance by the Fiji Electricity Authority at its Wailoa Power Station this Easter weekend.
The standby generators in the Water Authority of Fiji pumping stations and treatment plants will be operated to produce water during the power disruptions.
However, the Water Authority of Fiji says the amount of water produced would be less than under normal circumstances due to the limitation with generator capacities depending on magnitude of the power disruption.
People could experience intermittent power supply in the event of a failure of any diesel generating sets this Easter Weekend as the Fiji Electricity Authority will carry out major maintenance work at its Wailoa Power Station.
The FEA will rely on the Diesel Power Stations at Kinoya, Deuba, Rokobili and Korovou to supply electricity to their customers in the Central Division from Matanipusi to Korovou.
Power supply for the Western Division customers will be from the Nadarivatu Power Station and the diesel sets in Rakiraki, Vuda, Qeleloa, Nadi and Sigatoka.
The works will be carried out from 10 tonight to 6am next Tuesday where FEA will replace the main inlet valve on the fourth turbine at the Wailoa Power Station.
CEO Hasmukh Patel says this is a very important exercise that will allow them to ensure reliability and security in power supply.
