The 21st Commonwealth Games will be opened tonight with more than 6,600 athletes ready to compete in the three week competition.
18 sports, seven para‑sports, 10 core sports including athletics, badminton, boxing, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, rugby sevens, squash, swimming and weightlifting will be part of the event.
275 gold medals are at stake and will be competed by 71 nations and territories that are part of the Commonwealth.
Team Fiji Chef de mission Patrick Bower says that majority of Team Fiji have settled in well in their accommodation while the 7s team will be arriving in Gold Coast next week.

The Fiji Pearls will take on Jamaica at 3pm tomorrow before they face Barbados at 10.22pm Saturday.
The Boxing, Weightlifting and Badminton competitions will also start tomorrow, Beach Volleyball starts on Friday while Athletics will start on Sunday.
