All evacuation centres in the Western Division are operational.
This has been confirmed by the Western Division Commissioner, Manasa Tagicakibau.
Tagicakibau has encouraged people in the Western Division to move to evacuation centres when the need arises.
Tagicakibau says that people who were in evacuation centres from last night have moved back to their homes as they were urged to secure their properties before night fall.
The Commissioner Western has also confirmed that water has receded in areas that were flooded last night.
Tagicakibau is urging people in the Western Division to contact the Western Emergency Operation Centre on 6281553 or 9905457 or Divisional Police Commander West on 9906859 if they need to know the nearest evacuation centres to their homes.
Meanwhile, there are 490 people in nine evacuations centres in the Northern Division.
Labasa:
There are 8 centres in Labasa where 413 people are taking shelter.
12 people are from Namara Settlement who are sheltering in Labasa Sangam Secondary School, 16 people are from Natokamu Settlement and are at the settlement church, 26 residents of Old People’s Home are in the Labasa Nutrition Centre, 50 people from Naodamu Housing are at the Housing Hall, 181 people from Vulovi and Cawaira Settlements are in Shri Gurunanak Khalsa Primary School, 134 people from Nacula Village are at the village community hall, 14 people from the Batinikama area are in Batinikama College and 30 people from Wasavulu Settlement are at the settlement hall.
Savusavu:
There are 27 people from Vunivesi Village that are at the village community hall.
